For Game Masters

The first thing you need to do is become a Game Master. Do the following:

  1. Go to My Account.
  2. Choose Edit from the tabs at the top of your account information.
  3. Far down on the page is a block called "Premium Content." Check the box marked "Let me create my own Campaign"
  4. Come back here and start creating your campaign.

Now that I'm a Game Master, what do I do?

  1. Create a Campaign for your players to join. To create your campaign, choose Create content > Campaign from the navigation menu.
  2. On that screen, Description is the brief information that will show up in the list of groups, or when somebody searches for your group. Overview is the text that will display at the top of your group's home page. There's no need to go into great detail. You'll have lots of other opportunities to provide your players with details. It's just a quick tagline for your campaign.
  3. Membership Requests. The settings for Membership Requests can be a little confusing. A quick summary to make your life easier:
    • Open - Your campaign will show up in the public campaign lists. So you can just point your friends to this website, tell them the name of the campaign, and they can join the group on their own.
    • Moderated - Your campaign won't show up on the public lists, but you'll have an "Invite a Friend" link on the campaign's control panel. You can use it to send out invitations. Anybody else can also use it.
    • Invite Only - You can send an email invitation to people, and as long as they have the secret code (see your "My Account" page for the code), they can get in.
    • Closed - People don't join or leave on their own. Instead you add them or remove them.
  4. Build Your Book. Your book is a great way to provide background details for your players, and also for you to keep track of your game world. Read more...
  5. Invite Friends. A social networking site is useless without friends to be social with. On your campaign's control panel you'll see a link that reads "Invite Friends". Click it, fill in their email addresses and customize the message. It includes a registration code. The registration code isn't necessary, but it can make it easier for your friends to find your group when they join.
  6. Post it on Facebook. If you use Facebook, you can associate your facebook account with your RPG-Campaign.com account (see the Facebook Connect box at the left). In addition to letting you use your Facebook ID to authenticate here, when you post new content (like your Campaign), you'll have the option of sharing a link on Facebook, so that you can invite your friends.
  7. Run Your Campaign. This includes things like tracking characters, scheduling game days, and posting summaries of game sessions. Read more....
